Being Saved is Just The Beginning
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Being baptized is an important part of a believer’s salvation.
4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; 5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
Being saved is just the beginning of a lifelong relationship with Jesus. Jesus gives us new life and helps us grow spiritually from grace to grace. We shall spread the gospel and help the people who are lost be saved, as well.
25 Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. 26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. 27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.
Living in the world causes us to be influenced by the world. It is by the power of the Holy Spirit we can be cleansed of the worldly powers. The mass marketing campaigns and ideals of success that are conveyed by the media and followers of the media can powerfully convince people that they are losers unless they do it “the way of the world.” These subtle influences can alter a believers life unnoticeably and dangerously.
I often imagine Jesus flipping vendors tables in the temple as he cleansed the temple. There are towns in this world where people have no food. They have not the option to steal someone else’s food, because nobody has food. The rainwater is used for cleansing and the spring is used for drinking. If you ever have the opportunity to be blessed by visiting a third world (developing) nation, just do it. Upon returning to the United States, you will have an epiphany. People are in denial to the fact they are brainwashed into thinking a bigger home, newer car and all the other stuff “SOLD” to them is important.
11 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.
12 I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.
13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
