Be Ready for Attacks!

If you are in a relationship with Jesus, the devil doesn’t like you. The devil will attack you and make attempts to steal your faith, to steal your joy and above all to kill you and destroy any good you have done. Our offense is God’s Word and acts of Love. Our armor is our defense. We need to Be Ready for the devil’s attacks.

Ephesians 6:10-20

10Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

There is powerful evil working against God’s church in this world. It is not only in the darkest depths of the biggest cities. There is powerful evil high up in the worlds of business, politics, entertainment and religion. The devil is attacking Christianity on many war fronts today. As a Christian, we are to seek and save the lost. The “lost” are people who have not heard and believed in the gospel of Jesus Christ and, therefore, have eternal life in hell to look forward to. To save the lost, Christians will encounter evil. To be safe from evil, Christians must put on the Whole Armor of God.

14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

Your loins are where your guts are and reproductive organs. Your soul and your descendants are mentioned first as they are most important. The Truth about who created this world and who already won the war is to guard your soul and your family.

The righteousness of God guards our hearts. We are not worthy of God’s favor without receiving His righteousness in Jesus name. We are to repent of our sins and strive to live blameless lives. To guard our hearts, we must try our best to avoid the lusts of the flesh and to avoid evil temptations and to remain righteous.

15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

The gospel of Jesus Christ is the foundation we stand on when Satan attacks us. The preparation of the gospel shows we need to know the gospel. We need to study the gospel of Jesus and stand on it.

16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

Our faith is not seen. It is truly believing in the promises of God. We must truly believe in the provision of God and walk by faith knowing He will guard our every step.

17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

The helmet of salvation is what protects your mind. Our salvation is a process that lasts until we lose these temporary physical bodies. Our salvation is the constant pursuit of knowing who God is and what He wants us to do in this world. Every morning, before you take one step or even stand up, make up your mind to follow Christ and to be a Light in a dark world.

The sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God can be lethal to all acts of evil.  Speak His Word outloud and the devil flees.  Any temptation, whether it be to go to “happy hour” or go see a “rated R” movie, if you just quote John 3:16 outloud to that temptation, it may never bother you again.  If you are being physically or spiritually attacked by evil spirits, God’s Word will defend you.

18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

19 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,

20 For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

Let Jehovah Nissi be your banner. Don’t fear the battles. They are opportunities to defeat evil. Wave your banner proud and many battles will be avoided.

1 John 4:4b because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
