The Three of You
1 Samuel 16:7
7 But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.
There are three yous from the outside.
Galatians 1:10 For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.
1. The you that everyone sees is what the world calls “you”. The world sees what you do, not your motives. The world compares you to their standards. Is she pretty? Is he strong? Are they slow?
If we strive to gain acceptance from the world, we will find defeat and depression. Even the biggest stars in this world know that their success is vain glory.
Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
2. The you that you see when you look in the mirror is who you are. Today, can you look in the mirror? Some people are so far from being who they want to be, they cannot look themselves in the eyes. Look at yourself in the mirror. Look into your own eyes.
By the grace of God, we have the chance to change and be “better” people. Choose this day to Seek the Lord and His righteousness. You will feel better and look better, even to yourself.
Psalm 139:6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it.
3. The you that God sees is who He intended you to be when He formed you. Only God knows your full potential as an earthly being. He has a plan for you. You have to seek His Will for your life daily and WALK IN IT. Walk by faith, to receive the fullness of all God has to offer.
1O lord, thou hast searched me, and known me.
2 Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.
3 Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.
4 For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O Lord, thou knowest it altogether.
5 Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me.
Matthew 19:26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.
