07-07-15 – Character

Luke 12:1-3 (KJV)

1 In the mean time, when there were gathered together an innumerable multitude of people, insomuch that they trode one upon another, he began to say unto his disciples first of all, Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.

2 For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known.

3 Therefore whatsoever ye have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light; and that which ye have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops.

Who are you when nobody is watching?

Our character is not who we are on stage when everybody is watching. That is the image we portray. Our character is defined by what we do in secret.

We should make alone time in our lives. Our secret lives should be spent in communion with God. We should not look to escape from God and do things against His will.

Good character is treating yourself with respect and caring for your body, soul and spirit. Godly character is doing the right thing to others, even if they have done you wrong.

Proverbs 6:16-19 (KJV) 16 These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: 17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, 18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, 19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

We can read God’s Word to find out about bad character.

God has shown us how to live with good character by sending Jesus to Earth.

John 3:17-21King James Version (KJV)

17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.

21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

God sees us as His child. He provides for us and expects us to succeed.
