1 Corinthians 8: 3, 6-7, 9, 12 (KJV)
3 But if any man love God, the same is known of him.
6 But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.
7 Howbeit there is not in every man that knowledge: for some with conscience of the idol unto this hour eat it as a thing offered unto an idol; and their conscience being weak is defiled.
9 But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumblingblock to them that are weak.
12 But when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ.
When we as Christians walk in our faith in Jesus Christ, we have liberty to do as we will. There are people in this world with a weak conscience and have a desire to fulfill the lusts of their flesh. If your actions lead them in a direction away from God, you are accountable. It is a sin to cause a brother to sin.
“It is not enough for a Christian to condemn evil, cowardice, lies, and use of force, hatred, and oppression. He must at all times be a witness to and defender of justice, goodness, truth, freedom, and love. He must never tire of claiming these values as a right both for himself and others.”
-Jerzy Popiełuszko (Roman Catholic Martyr)
1 John 2:15-17 (KJV)
15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
We as Christians can not partake of things of this world and remain Holy and set apart for God. Jesus said go into the world and make Christians. Shine your light before men. If we fulfill the lust of our flesh and are hypocrites, we cause others to turn from God. This, my brethren, is a sin.
2 Corinthians 7:1 (KJV) – Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
