Leviticus 16:2,11 (KJV)

2 And the Lord said unto Moses, Speak unto Aaron thy brother, that he come not at all times into the holy place within the vail before the mercy seat, which is upon the ark; that he die not: for I will appear in the cloud upon the mercy seat.

11 And Aaron shall bring the bullock of the sin offering, which is for himself, and shall make an atonement for himself, and for his house, and shall kill the bullock of the sin offering which is for himself:

In the Old Testament, the priests of Israel were given strict instructions by God not to enter the Holy of Holies or the presence of the LORD without performing sacrifices and cleansing rituals. Leviticus chapter 16 is instructions for Aaron given to Moses by God. Here in also lies fear and obedience to God.

Exodus 26:9 (KJV) – And thou shalt couple five curtains by themselves, and six curtains by themselves, and shalt double the sixth curtain in the forefront of the tabernacle.

Exodus chapter 26 is all about God’s instructions for making the veil that encased the inner sanctuary and the Holy of Holies. Behind the first veil was the sanctuary for priests to gather and make sacrifices. It was the second veil that separated the inner sanctuary and only the High Priest could enter. God dwelt in this area where the Ark of the Covenant was kept. Even the High Priest had to be cleansed and “made Holy” by the blood of a living sacrifice (Heb 9:7) to enter the presence of God without dying.

Matthew 27:51a (KJV) – And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom

We must receive Jesus as the sacrifice for our sins and believe in Him as our Savior to enter the presence of God. When Jesus is our Lord and Savior, we are children of God and welcome to His mercy seat.

Hebrews 10:18b-22 (KJV)

18 THERE IS NO MORE OFFERING FOR SIN.

19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,

20 By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;

21 And having an high priest over the house of God;

22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

We should, in all things, fear God alone and obey His Word. He hears the prayers of the righteous and answers them according to His will. We enter His presence when we praise Jesus. There is healing in the presence of God. There is wholeness in the presence of God. God wants us to commune with Him daily so we can experience and share His Love with others.
