Isaiah 5:6 (KJV) – And I will lay it waste: it shall not be pruned, nor digged; but there shall come up briers and thorns: I will also command the clouds that they rain no rain upon it.
Pruning the fruit vines and trees is caring for our harvests. When the plants and trees are left alone without care, they grow wild and become overrun with briars and choked to death with weeds.
If we want to produce fruit, a bountiful harvest, we must prune the vines so they can produce more fruit in the next harvest.
John 15:1-2 (NLT)
1 “I am the true grapevine, and my Father is the gardener. 2 He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn’t produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more.
God the Father prunes the branches that bear good fruit. We must stay connected to Jesus to produce fruit of the Spirit.
The branches that do not produce good fruit are cut off and thrown into the fire.
Galatians 5:22-23 (NKJV)
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.
There is a difference between nice and Kind, happy and Joy, calm and Peace. Happy is an emotion that is easily swayed. When you have Joy from Jesus, nothing can detour your Joy.
When you are full of Peace, it is different than just calming down. Jesus’ Peace abolishes anxiety and confusion.
Self Control from the Holy Spirit is not just restraining your hands from stealing. The Fruit of the Spirit goes deeper than what we see. Self Control is “bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ” – 2 Corinthians 10:5b
Romans 1:13 (NLT) – I want you to know, dear brothers and sisters, that I planned many times to visit you, but I was prevented until now. I want to work among you and see spiritual fruit, just as I have seen among other Gentiles.
