Genesis 3:6 (NKJV) – So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate.
Our fleshly desires will destroy us, if we allow them to. It was a desire that led Eve to eat the forbidden fruit. Desires can distract us from our long term goals. We must pray to God when desires start to control us.
Psalm 37:4 (NKJV) – Delight yourself also in the Lord,
And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
We need to trust in God for Life and Joy. Our circumstances can bring us down, or they can lift us up. God wants us to be overcomers and not let the World shade us from shining His Light.
We will not want to fulfill worldly desires when we focus on God’s plan. Worldly desires are bondage to sin.
When we delight in the Lord and His Will, God gives us Spiritual desires that go deeper than anything of this world.
Deuteronomy 5:21 (KJV) – Neither shalt thou desire thy neighbour’s wife, neither shalt thou covet thy neighbour’s house, his field, or his manservant, or his maidservant, his ox, or his ass, or any thing that is thy neighbour’s.
Our testimony of Jesus is mute if our eyes are full of want. It is a sin that needs forgiveness when we walk in envy or covetousness. Cast down any thoughts or desires for worldly gain or material things.
Jeremiah 20:9 (CEV) – Sometimes I tell myself
not to think about you, Lord,
or even mention your name.
But your message burns
in my heart and bones,
and I cannot keep silent.
Our desire is God. We need more of Him. We must spend time in prayer and break away from the world’s illusion of success. Success is having Jesus on the throne of our Hearts and pleasing the King of Peace.
