Matthew 18:7-9 (NASB)
7 “Woe to the world because of its stumbling blocks! For it is inevitable that stumbling blocks come; but woe to that man through whom the stumbling block comes!
8 “If your hand or your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it from you; it is better for you to enter life crippled or lame, than to have two hands or two feet and be cast into the eternal fire. 9 If your eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and throw it from you. It is better for you to enter life with one eye, than to have two eyes and be cast into the fiery hell.
Do Not Let Anything Detour You From Accomplishing God’s Will.
If you think your will is more important than God’s, you may be your biggest stumbling block. Do not get distracted by watching things of the world.
You may feel the need to watch a show on TV so you can understand what your friends are talking about. It is not as important as spending time with God.
2 Peter 1:10 (NASB) – Therefore, brethren, be all the more diligent to make certain about His calling and choosing you; for as long as you practice these things, you will never stumble;
We were not created by God to follow the ways of the world. We are sure to stumble if we ignore God and His calling.
We must let Jesus reign in our hearts. When our Love is only skin deep, Jesus becomes a stumbling block (1 Corinthians 1:23). When we are true to Christ and not just going through the motions, He is the Way, the Truth and the Life.
Psalm 119:165 (NASB) – Those who love Your law have great peace,
And nothing causes them to stumble.
