10-25-15 – The Fall

The Fall

Romans 7:18-19 (NLT)

18 And I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. I want to do what is right, but I can’t. 19 I want to do what is good, but I don’t. I don’t want to do what is wrong, but I do it anyway.

The world has a problem when good people do wrong. The FACT is that nobody is perfect. We all have sinned. Sin causes us to stumble. If we get hurt or not, we still must get back up and finish the race.

Isaiah 14:12-15 (NLT)

12 “How you are fallen from heaven,
O shining star, son of the morning!
You have been thrown down to the earth,
you who destroyed the nations of the world.
13 For you said to yourself,
‘I will ascend to heaven and set my throne above God’s stars.
I will preside on the mountain of the gods
far away in the north.
14 I will climb to the highest heavens
and be like the Most High.’
15 Instead, you will be brought down to the place of the dead,
down to its lowest depths.

Sin is tempting. It is real EASY to fall into sin. The Devil, the son of the Morning, knows what tempts us. He knows your weaknesses because he has been to Heaven and knows what Christians enjoy.

If we listen to the king of the world, and do what he recommends, we will FALL into his traps and get caught up in sin.

Romans 7:24-25 (NLT)

24 Oh, what a miserable person I am! Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death? 25 Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord. So you see how it is: In my mind I really want to obey God’s law, but because of my sinful nature I am a slave to sin.

When you fall, get back up. Learn from your mistakes and try not to repeat them. Reading God’s Word and spending time in prayer strengthens us to avoid Falling again.

Romans 8:1-2 (NLT) – 1So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. 2 And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death.
