11-06-15 – Suffering

Isaiah 53:3-4 (NKJV)

3 He is despised and rejected by men,
A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.
And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him;
He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.

4 Surely He has borne our griefs
And carried our sorrows;
Yet we esteemed Him stricken,
Smitten by God, and afflicted.

God endured watching His son suffer for the sins of ALL mankind. Jesus bore the punishment and death that we deserve. The suffering of Jesus is the evidence or manifestation of Love that God has for us.

John 15:10 (NLT) – When you obey my commandments, you remain in my love, just as I obey my Father’s commandments and remain in his love.

Jesus prayed to God, “If it be possible, let this cup pass from me.” (Matthew 26:39)

He prayed a second time, “O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.” (Matthew 26:42)

John 14:31 (KJV) – But that the world may know that I love the Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence.

We have salvation in the blood of Jesus Christ. When we accept Jesus as our Savior and receive New Life from Him, we must put away the old to embrace the New according to God’s will.

We will suffer, as well, if we do not let go of our sin nature, dying to our natural desires and living to accomplish the will of the Father. Obeying God’s commands is the manifestation of our Love of the Father.

Isaiah 55:7 (NKJV)

7 Let the wicked forsake his way,
And the unrighteous man his thoughts;
Let him return to the Lord,
And He will have mercy on him;
And to our God,
For He will abundantly pardon.

God’s will is clear in this verse of Isaiah. He wants you to receive His Mercy through Jesus blood. He wills to pardon you of your sins. It is up to us to turn from our wicked ways and return unto God.

Deuteronomy 5:29 (NLT) – Oh, that they would always have hearts like this, that they might fear me and obey all my commands! If they did, they and their descendants would prosper forever.
