before honor is humility – Proverbs 15:33 (KJV)
By humility and the fear of the Lord are riches, and honor – Proverbs 22:4 (KJV)
Humility simply means putting other people before YOU in the rank of priorities. We should not bring ourselves down or think less of ourselves. Humility is not sadness or loneliness.
We need to recognize the uniqueness and specialties that others possess. We need to shine the spotlight on others by encouraging, extolling and enabling those in need.
Zephaniah 2:3 (NKJV)
3 Seek the Lord, all you meek of the earth,
Who have upheld His justice.
Seek righteousness, seek humility.
It may be that you will be hidden
In the day of the Lord’s anger.
Humility does not include idol worship and lifting up man-made gods. Bowing down to award-winning actors or stretching out your hands to hall of fame artists is not humility. Humility is NOT hiding in the shadows of the famous.
2 Chronicles 7:14 (KJV) – If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
We need to respect ourselves as a wonderful creation of God and do our best to heed His calling on our life. We can train our minds and hone our skills with a humble heart.
James 4:10 (KJV) – Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.
Put others that are in need before you and help the hurting people in this world. Do not see yourself as too good to volunteer with charities and ministries. You may show someone the only view of Jesus they ever see.
